On this day we headed to Mirabell gardens. The very same where the Sound of Music filmed the Von Trapp kids singing "Doe Ray Me". It was also built by the wealthy Arch Bishop after a massive city fire as a tribute to his wife. The tulips and wisteria were in bloom and while it was much smaller than other castle gardens we've toured, the live music made it more enchanting. We had a great time enjoying a live band concert. Kaitlan was so moved by the music she made up her own little jig. I learned that Salzberg was the birth place of Mozart. Many famous composers played in Salzburg for the many Archbishops throughout history and Salzburg is still known for its music culture. My favorite part of the concert, besides Kaitlan's jig, was seeing grown old men walk past in very traditional looking clothing-feather in the hat, leder hosen (leather shorts), with tall stockings, suspenders...
The gardens were filled with tulips, tourists and trumpets.
We also enjoyed time at the troll gardens. Every garden should have such whimsical little statues!
On tonights menu: Soup d'jour. Aubrie will bring the special ingredients.
We also hung out at the play ground where there was a monstrously tall slide. Ted and the girls had so much fun I decided to try it. I went down it feet first on my belly and went shooting out like a bullet doing a huge belly flop in the sand. It was the days entertainment!
After the gardens and lunch we hiked around the village and snapped this photo of the rooftops of Salzburg.
