We began our Christmas season of 2009 with a trip downtown to the ice rink they had set up in the court yard of a beautiful old castle now turned museum. The spires rising into the night were an awesome back drop to the smiling faces of my family as we circled the small rink over and over again rockin' out to Christmas tunes. 2 weeks before we went skating at the rink in the mall and this time the girls were a little bit more confident. They still needed the helper penguins but by the end Aubrie could do it alone and Kaitlan dared lift her leg up and skate on one leg like the figure skaters do. It was great to see the sun set and a full moon rise, the night seemed magical in fact and it was hard to leave. As we did though we happened upon the "Singing Christmas Tree" where there was 3 or so building stories high of carolers singing great Christmas music and filling the city streets with festivity.
