Kaitlan's Birthday

It's hard to believe that just 6 short years ago I was holding a baby Kaitlan in my arms for the first time!

Birthday's are a very big deal in her Kindergarten.  The day begins with her getting to sleep in a bit before all her classmates show up on our steps and sing Happy Birthday to her in 4 different languages.  This is followed by getting to ride in the wagon dressed like a queen and pulled by her friends!  Along the way she has to look out for a balloon that has a treat in it just for her.  Once at school, she gets to choose the songs they sing in circle time while sitting on a special throne, just for the birthday kid.  After singing there are a few games such as hocus-pocus-lavidicus, where one square holding candy is hexed and you have to stop eating them if you choose that one.  Also all the kids get to put a sticker on her windmill and shake her hand while giving her birthday wishes.  After that she gets to hold a sparkler while the other kids stand safely on their chairs.

All this is followed by her friend birthday party where she choose the Princess theme this year.  6 little girls running around in dress up close, made for a busy afternoon!  We did nail painting and make up, colored pictures of princesses, played princesses outside, played find the slipper inside, did gifts and ate cupcakes then gave out gift bags of candy and plastic jewelry at the end.  Whew!

Dad got to enjoy the cupcakes with us that evening as a family.

Kaitlan could seriously craft every minute of the day!
